This consultation has now closed. Thank you for all your input which has helped shape this project for the community.

Proposed local law amendments (proposed local law) for advertising devices was first placed on public notification for a period of 7 weeks from 21 June to 9 August 2019.

In response to public submissions, a number of changes are now proposed to:

  • reduce the number of new signs requiring approval to now only include pole, pylon, freestanding and all illuminated signs, with a one off application fee;
  • remove any requirement for an annual approval licence or ongoing annual renewal fees for signage;
  • allow window and wall signs as self-assessable against the relevant criteria;
  • allow one (1) A-frame sandwich board per tenancy;
  • allow one (1) real estate directional sign per auction / open for inspection;
  • increase the individual sign face area up to 6sqm in the Noosaville Industrial zone and Cooroy Industrial Zone; excluding Eumundi Noosa Road and Walter Hay Drive;
  • amend the definition of “tenancy”, “sign face area” and “motor vehicle sign; and
  • make other minor changes where necessary.

The majority of other existing advertising device requirements have not changed.

Following a second round of public consultation, Council adopted local law amendments for advertising devices at its Ordinary Meeting on 19 December 2019.
